CSSBI is a national association for the Canadian structural steel industy.

Vision Statement

To make steel the material of choice for building construction in Canada.

History of the CSSBI

Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute, commonly called the CSSBI, is the national association of companies involved in the structural sheet steel industry. The institute was founded in 1961 and since then has been an influential force in the development of research, building codes and specifications surrounding sheet steel building products

Lisa Repovs is on the Executive and also Chairs the Marketing Committee. The goal of the marketing committee is to increase awareness of building with steel in Canada and also awareness of CSSBI’s codes and best practices. Lisa is involved in a few exciting initiatives to help promote the industry such as a Canadian magazine targeted to architects and contractors. CSSBI is partnering with Modern Trade (link) to make this possible. Another initiative is a Canadian tradeshow. We will have our own steel area at Construct Canada.

The metal construction association helps promote the metal constuction industry.

Mission

Founded in 1983, MCA has as its mission "expanding the use of metal in construction through marketing, technology, and education." MCA is an industry-wide vehicle through which members of the metal in construction industry can develop and implement both macro and microprograms and activities to more widely promote the use of metal in construction.

The MCA offers industry members an unusual opportunity to effectively coordinate and focus industry efforts to achieve expansion of the use of metal through innovation in the areas of marketing, technology, and education.

Lisa is also on the board for the MCA, Chairs the Metal-Forming Equipment Council, and participates in other councils such as Metalcon Liason and the Program Committee.

The goal of the Metal-Forming Equipment Council is to educate equipment operators in the metal roofing and wall panel industry. This is crucial to maintaining the reputation of building with metal. The operators are trained to make perfect quality parts that will go onto the building perfectly to the part next to it.

Samco supports the Metal Initiative

The Metal Initiative (TMI) is an initiative to grow the metal building industry. View TMI’s website to see all the benefits of building with the increasingly popular GREEN product…metal.
